Hannah Lees
Artist Profile
Hannah Lees’s limited edition print entitled ‘Magdelene Hands’ features versions of the hand gesture made by the penitent Mary Magdalene in paintings by Titian and El Greco. The print is part of an exploration of themes of hermitage and pilgrimage. In her wider practice, Lees works intuitively with her materials, foregrounding process and the nature of the substances she works with. She creates shifts in context to disrupt interpretation and allow for new meaning addressing decay and regeneration. Hannah Lees completed a Post-Graduate Diploma at Chelsea College of Art (2011) and a Foundry Residency at the Royal College of Art (2012).
