HANNAH LIM
Artist Profile
Hannah Lim has created an exquisite limited edition print with Ellipsis Prints based on one of the snuff bottles for which her practice is renowned. Hannah’s work responds to the colonial connotations of the relationship between East and West. She engages with themes such as Orientalism and its relationship to Chinoiserie, through which, in the 18th century, elements of Chinese design were re-imagined for European tastes. Through this culturally coded work, Hannah Lim reclaims these designs and addresses their problematic colonial undertones. Her imaginative creations are both playful and peculiar and at once functional and ornamental. Hannah studied Sculpture at University of Edinburgh before completing her MFA at the Ruskin School of Art.
