JALA WAHID
Artist Profile
Jala Wahid has created a limited edition print entitled ‘Cry Me a Waterfall (Close My Eyes I Dream of You in Slow-mo)’. The print is connected to her music video of the same name exploring connections to the contested Kurdish region in the Middle East, fictional concepts of homeland and notions of identity when living as a part of a global diaspora. Jala Wahid graduated from the Royal Academy Schools in 2019 and previously studied for her BA at Goldsmiths College. She works across sculpture, video, installation and writing, looking to the emotive and symbolic potential of materials, music and song. Her work explores the interregional and internal politics that have shaped Kurdistan and their consequences.
